Outreach for 100 Hours of Astronomy

This past weekend was the 100 Hours of Astronomy! I spent the weekend helping out with a couple events at the Goddard Space Flight Center. The first was the Yuri’s night party at the visitor’s center. I set up an 8″ telescope out back, showing visitors both the Orion Nebula (M42) and Saturn.

Sunday afternoon I gave a 5 minute primer on the Moon for the “How to Throw a Star Party” event. It seemed to be well received and the participants all seemed to have a good time. It was a good weekend for observing, with clear weather.
