Sometimes when you come to a stop your legs feel like wet noodles and your feet hurt so much you don’t want to stand anymore.
Then you look back at the mountain side you skied…

I took a few pictures while in Idaho. Not as many as I’d planned.. but hey, I was busy skiing!
Here are a few shots while driving to/from McCall.
I just returned from a 4 day stint in McCall, ID doing some skiing with my family. We had an incredible amount of snow: over 30″, most of which fell in the past 48 hours. This meant a lot of powder. As I write this, my quads hurt walking up stairs or getting off the sofa. The powder was at least mid-calf depth everywhere, with places up to waist deep. In a few turns I even got powder shots to the face.
All told, we got about 15,000 m vertical in ~3 days of skiing (2 full days, 2 half days). Dad and I skiied all 4 days, Mom skiied the first two, Peter joined for the last two, and Amy met us for a half day there in the middle. The last two days rank as some of the best skiing conditions I’ve seen…

Peter and Katy were married this past weekend in Boise, Idaho. I was fortunate enough to be involved in the wedding and it was an awesome celebration.
I don’t have any pictures of the actual ceremony (I was busy in the bridal party), but I do have some pictures from the other events… On Friday morning the bachelor party was a trip to the indoor shooting range and Impact Guns in Boise. The father of the bride and several of his friends brought along a selection of pistols, ranging from WWII-era small caliber pistols to modern .45ACP pistols. We had a great time! I have uploaded pictures to flickr: Bachelor Party.
The wedding on Saturday was a beautiful ceremony followed by a very fun reception. The DJ did an excellent job of getting people onto the dance floor and the party was always lively. I gave a toast (you’ll have to pester Aleya for the video :p ) and danced to “YMCA” with the other male members of the bridal party. (un)Lucky for me, but I am not in possession of any videos from that
On Sunday, several of us went up to McCall to check things out. There was still a fair amount of snow in the mountains and the air was quite cool in town. We braved the temperatures and took the boat for a spin around the lake. I’m afraid it wasn’t enjoyed by all though, as the windchill at 30mph was somewhat uncomfortable. But the scenery was still quite gorgeous.
On the drive back from McCall, we saw several groups on the river including these kayakers:
All the McCall pictures a on flickr.
During the flight back to Virginia, I flew over the Rockies. I happened to glance out the window at just the right time and was surprised to see The Diamond on Long’s Peak.
All in all, an excellent weekend. Congratulations to Peter and Katy!
