I spent this past Sunday at Seneca Rocks, WV rock climbing with Sarah B. We spent the day trad climbing, mostly on the west face of the south peak.
The first route we did was “Conn’s West Direct” (5.5) which was an awesome route. I led all three pitches which took us close the summit. After a quick scramble, we got to the top! The south summit is the only summit east of the Mississippi requiring technical rock climbing to reach. It was great to finally tag it.
After a bit of a wait, we were able to rappel back to the bottom. While rapping, we chatted with an older lady who was climbing Conn’s West with her husband. She recommended “Ecstasy Jr” (5.4) as a good route to try.
After a bit of searching, we finally found the route. We had to wait a bit as a couple from Toronto were already on it. Well worth the wait! It was an excellent route, with plenty of interesting moves. Very thoughtful climbing. Sarah led the first pitch, and I took the second. Highly recommended.
