A fellow summer intern and I spent Friday night and Saturday in Groningen, staying with a co-worker from ASTRON. We arrived on the train from Beilen on Friday night and went to a Blonde Redhead concert at Vera. It was a cool concert, much more relaxed than those I’ve been to in the past. After the show, we met up with some friends and went to “De Kar” for a few drinks. The nightlife scene is very lively in Groningen, with an interesting mix of people.
On Saturday we explored the town, walking around the canals and the city center. I went hat shopping, but didn’t find the Panama Hat I’ve been looking for. Oh well. The canals were quite cool and most of the boats had a lot of character. I’m looking forward to seeing the black and white film I shot in the city.
