My first backpacking trip was when I was 5-8 years old (somewhere in there, it's a bit fuzzy!) on the Appalachan Trail. My grandfather took us up to a cabin for an overnight trip. It was great fun! Since then I have continued hiking and backpacking.. generally doing increasingly long trips.
In recent years I began climbing, and the two hobbies are starting to merge. Hiking and climbing mountains while on trips..
