Hard X-ray Selected AGN as Neutrino Sources

23 July 2021

Though some high-energy astrophysical neutrino emission has been associated with several sources (predominately associated with processes around supermassive black holes), the origin of the high energy neutrino background is not yet understood. In “Search for high-energy neutrino emission from hard X-ray AGN with IceCube” (Goswami+) we provide a status report for an ongoing project to use active galactic nuclei (AGN) from the BAT AGN Spectroscopic Survey (BASS) as a sample over which to search for neutrino emission. BASS selected AGN have a large suite of multi-wavelength diagnostic information that we are using to explore the neutrino emission. The article was presented at the 37th International Cosmic Ray Conference (ICRC 2021) and a preprint is available.
